Be sure that the blade is aligned with the waste side of the pencil line.

Maintain contact between the base of the saw and the wood surface at all times.

44. Remove the board from the clamps.

45. Sand the corners smooth. Hand sanding works best here—use 120-grade paper first, followed by 220-grade.

46. The next step is to round over all the edges of the board. You can use an electric router with a 3/8-inch roundover bit (shown here) or a handheld planer to do this. Rounding over the edges with sandpaper is another option, but doing so takes a great deal of elbow grease and care to see that the edges remain even. Refer to the sidebar on page 29 for instructions on using a router.
